Oh, you know, just another Camino day

I wouldn’t call it a routine day but all went as smoothly as could be expected. Up and out of Terridillos before 7 am. And into Bercianos Del Camino by 1:30 pm

Never saw the rain, just the puddles.

Terradillos was a Knights of the Templar stronghold at one time and this scary dude (above) challenges you on the way out of town.

Worse than Halloween!

The day was mostly groomed and tree-lined trails beside the highway. Not highway in the Los Angeles freeway sense. Lightly traveled is more like it.

Old Roman roads repurposed for today’s peregrinos.

If you squint, you can see the full rainbow!

Not Hobbit Houses. Bodegas built into the hills store wine, cheese, cured meats, vegetables, and many other things.

Across some old Roman bridges. A full rainbow, some hobbit houses, encounters with a few friends,

Oh, and an official mid-way certificate of completion. My favorite band of happy Australians was determined to get certified so I tagged along.

That’s about it. Camino dinner starts at 6 pm, the market reopens at 7:30 pm and I’m asleep by 9. No place to stay yet tomorrow, so up early to find a municipal auberge, I guess.

Interesting how some things like highway overpasses and doors can frame beauty.

And some cool murals (and a statue) in Sahagun today:

And some cats, of course:
