Art is best left to describe itself.
I’m a firm believer in that.
But I also believe you should let people know where they can find the cool stuff. This, for example.
The beauty of San Miguel de Allende is that you find art everywhere, often in the most unexpected places.
Especially murals.

Holy cow, you then a corner thinking about where the closest ATM machine might be when some fresh piece of mind-blowing and exhilarating artistic expression hits you smack in your consciousness.
Suddenly you are falling deep into the surreal imaginations of a street artist and … what was that I was looking for before?
So, everything you see here is from what I believe is San Miguel’s largest outdoor gallery ever: José María “Capi” Correa Stadium, Avenida Cienfuegos. Or to put it a better way: Right behind the Tuesday Market, near Estacion de Bomberos and Boulevard de la Conspiracion.
OK, OK. Not far from Luciernaga Mall.
Until not long ago, the beautifully refurbished stadium was surrounded by a white-washed brick wall. Now, you know that white-washed brick walls are like catnip to muralists and graffitists. Both of them got space in this project.

The many many murals and graffities were created under the aegis of Collectivo Ranchero Pandillero. Their mission is as a “Social project that seeks to bring Hip Hop culture for Peace to the youth of San Miguel de Allende. With the support of groups, Graff and Rap, we teach workshops and organize community events. We promote the development of collaborating artists.”
Some of the artists on this wall are clearly developing, finding a voice and a style. Some are mind-blowingly mature.
I reveled in every frame.
I hope you enjoy these images and find time to walk around the stadium when next visiting Sunday or Tuesday markets.
