The celebration of the Resurrection of Christ on Saturday night at the Parroquia de San Antonio de Padua in Colonia San Antonio was incredibly moving. Worshipers filled the plaza to overflowing. They stood and prayed for hours during the Easter Vigil as the life and death of Jesus Christ was recounted from the altar.

When the plaza and church went dark, candles were lit and shared until the whole area was filled with a golden glow. The statue of the Risen Christ, on the shoulders of a half-dozen hefty parishioners, was greeted with cheers, waving balloons, and white pom-poms — and of course, amazing fireworks.

The prayers, singing, and celebrations continued until at least midnight.
